Claiborne Charity Golf Classic

Robin and I attended the shrimp boil and fundraising events at the Haynesville Country Club on Saturday as part of the Twenty-first Annual Claiborne Charity Golf Classic. The Claiborne Charity is the largest charitable organization in Claiborne having expended in the last twenty years over $585,139.66 helping over 600 families deal with all kinds of catastrophes. It was a pleasure being a sponsor of the golf tournament and donating a pistol for auction.

Glad to see my old friend Joe Ellis Michael owner and operator of Michael’s Men’s Store and Sporting Goods operated on the square in downtown Homer since 1948. Joe Ellis and I have been friends since Tech days when he was on the golf team and I was playing basketball.

Doug Garrett with an able assistant, drawing numbers for the gun and other fundraising prizes.
